In 2023, a new research group was introduced in the Department of Aquatic Product Technology at the Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Sciences, IPB University.

The research unit will focus on the development of advanced gel materials based on aquatic resources such as derived from seaweed polysaccharide, marine oil, fish protein, etc.. The general subject area of the research unit includes hydrogels, organogels, ionic gels, HIPE gels, oleogels, aerogels, cryogels, gelation mechanisms, gels made from food mixtures, gels as raw materials for non-gel functional foods, as well as the synthesis, characterization, and application of the above-mentioned technologies in both food and non-food products.
